Trevor Phillips-Williams (PW) founded the group in
1986 after resigning from employment through stress caused by a boss with an
appalling management style. He is now perceived by many as one of the leading
consultants in creating and developing successful small businesses. |
His credibility stems from the fact that he actually makes his
living from small business and entrepreneurship.
Businesses that he set up include:-
- Francis, Williams and Company Ltd - a business transfer
agency,
- World Fashion - a company marketing and manufacturing new
designs produced by young graduate designers.
- Fashion and the Arts Management for Enterprise (FAME) - a
business designed to train, mentor and manage new members to the artistic
industries into their chosen profession.
He also set up PW (Enterprise Support) International (PWESI) which
is now part of the PW International Group in 1986
with the express purpose of effectively helping would be small business
entrepreneurs how to do it effectively, following his own experiences of trying
to set up his first business. He is presently Chairman of the PW International
Group. |

In spite of being kept busy with the day to day running of the
group, Trevor finds time to lecture, mentor and coach small business
owner/managers world-wide. Although an effective generalist, he specialises in
helping artistic entrepreneurs - actors, musicians, dancers, designers,
teachers, artists, trainers etc., anyone in fact who freelances and is the
"product" and of course, tourism businesses.
His methods are based on the real world of small business, which
from time to time he has to admit, clash with the popular theories put forward
by many advisers - usually those who have "never actually done it!" However,
the only true proof of a theory is to put it into action and monitor the
results.
Trevor started his working life in the regular British Army,
followed by many years as a "smuggler catcher" in Her Majesty's Customs and
Excise. Before resigning to set up his own business, he spent the last few
years as a VATman, visiting businesses of all sizes, an ideal research resource
for starting on his own.
He writes and broadcasts from time to time and is the author of
the BBC World Service series, "Starting your own Business" He is a visiting
lecturer in small business at Rzeszov Business School, Poland, an assessor for
many UK Government sponsored programmes, an adviser/mentor for the Princes
Trust and is accredited to the UN International Trade Centre. He is a Chartered
Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and is
frequently contracted for the delivery of Business Skills Training at the
London College of Fashion and the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing.

From time to time, his services are contracted to Non Government
Organisations (NGO's) and other organisations for overseas aid work, usually in
the form of:-
- Creation and development of micro-businesses.
- Development of Tourism.
- Customs and VAT.
- Development of Training Centres and Training Resources.
Trevor also offers conference speaking, boardroom briefings,
seminars and workshops to larger companies and organisations to help them
utilise the entrepreneurial skills that invariably lie dormant amongst
employees which would help to create an enhanced team atmosphere of creativity
that can only benefit the organisation.
